The Great Louie Bellson
Hello Friends,
Sadly we have lost another great musician and drummer The great Louie Bellson. He was an amazing player and true innovator of the instrument. Probably the first double bass drum player, but always the gentleman and humble till the end would never admit to it. Probably best known for his time with The Duke Ellington Band, although his list of credits reads as the whos who of Jazz and bigband music. He did stints with Tommy Dorsey, Harry James,Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong and many many more. He married jazz singer Pearl Bailey in 1952 and had 2 children with her. She passed in 1990, He married again to Francine and was with her until his death on Valentines Day Feb 14th,2009. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Bellson who spoke with me for at least an hour. He left a lasting impression on me of what a true gentleman he was. A man of emmence style and grace . His kind only comes around once, A jazz pioneer......... he will be missed .

Hey friends In Toronto w Stevie Salas , playin the Canadian Aboriginal Awards tonight. Its a really crazy events for the native Indians if Canada that come from all over. I saw the most inspiring native drummers called Black Bear Singers. Beautiful spiritual emotional feeling watching and hearing them.

Billy Gibbons at Drac Studios
Hey Kids,
Had an amazing day today. The legendary Billy Gibbons recorded at Drac Studios. He always comes with gifts. He gave me a copy of his book "Rock n Roll Gearhead" U should check it out. Cool guitars and awesome cars , also gave me a game that reads ur mind. Crazyyy!! He brought a mascot for the day, a peruvian shrunken head. Strange lil guy!! It was an absolute joy watching him play.

hey friends, Had and amazing weekend, me and Duff road in the LoveRide We were whats called ambassadors along with people like the original Easy rider Peter Fonda, Jay Leno the guys from sons of Anarchy. The ride started about 6am from my house in Hollywood. I rode over and met Duff then we rode out to Glendale harley Together. where the ceremony started. about 930 cranked up the bikes and headed to Pomona with 30 thousand bikers It was unbelievable and for a great cause. The Loveride raises millions for different charities got to the gig and watched The Tubes, one of my favorite bands growing up. Then Foo Fighters hit the stage. Rockin as usual. ZZ top finished up and Grohl and Duff joined in for Tush and Le Grange

Hey Friends, Had a great but busy last weekend, last friday had a rehearsal BBQ at my house for an acoustic performance at my friend John Varvatos new store in Malibu. Guests included John and Joyce Varvatos, Billy Morrison and wife Jen. Corey Taylor of Slipknot and friend Stephanie, Steve Stevens and girl Josey Steve Jones and Cooky of the Pistols and Cookys wife Jen. Donovan Leitch and wife Kirsti Hume, Chris Chaney, my partner Max Noce cooked the pasta. Darling Stilettos Gina, Lindsey and Megan. I cooked salmon and filet for about 25 and we jammed a bit Great night Matt
